Co-Building Hope and Harmony: Zimbabwe Marks World Social Work Day 2026
A call to every social worker across the nation — your presence matters.
Every year, the third Tuesday of March brings with it a moment of reflection, celebration, and renewed commitment. This year, World Social Work Day 2026 arrives with a theme that speaks directly to the heart of what social workers do every single day: “Co-Building Hope and Harmony.”
And Zimbabwe is ready to celebrate in a big way.
A Landmark Gathering in Harare
On Tuesday, 17 March 2026, social workers from across Zimbabwe are invited to converge at Harare Gardens for a national celebration that promises to be both meaningful and memorable.
Hosted by the Council of Social Workers Zimbabwe (CSWZ) — under the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare (MPSLSW) — and organised in collaboration with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), this event is more than a gathering. It is a declaration of the profession’s vital role in the fabric of Zimbabwean society, convened in terms of the Social Workers Act [Chapter 27:21].
Why This Theme Resonates
“Co-Building Hope and Harmony” is not just a slogan — it is a description of what social workers do in communities every day.
Social workers are often the unseen architects of resilience. They walk alongside families in crisis, advocate for children without a voice, support the elderly and vulnerable, and stitch together community bonds that poverty and inequality can so easily tear apart. In Zimbabwe, as in so many parts of the world, their work is rarely celebrated loudly enough.
This year’s theme invites us to recognise that hope is not passive — it is built, brick by brick, through deliberate, compassionate, professional action. And it is built together — by practitioners, communities, policymakers, and institutions working in concert.
Who Should Attend?
The invitation is extended to all social workers across Zimbabwe — whether you work in child protection, healthcare, schools, NGOs, government departments, or community settings. This is your day. Come to be recognised, to connect with colleagues, to be inspired, and to reaffirm your commitment to a profession that changes lives.

A Final Word
World Social Work Day is a reminder that the profession deserves not only recognition but investment — in training, in resources, in fair compensation, and in public appreciation. Social workers carry enormous responsibility, often with limited support. Days like these matter because they affirm that the work matters.
If you know a social worker, take a moment on 17 March to say thank you. And if you are a social worker — see you at Harare Gardens.
All roads lead there.
